Cookie policy

One cookie, for analytics, and only if you say yes. Decline and nothing is loaded at all.

What we ask for

Google Analytics, so that we can see which pages are read and which are not. It writes a cookie to your browser that gives this site a visitor number. It is how we tell one person reading four pages from four people reading one page each.

You are asked before any of it happens. On a first visit this site makes no request to Google, loads no script from them, and writes nothing to your browser. The question sits at the bottom of the page, it is not a wall across the content, and the two answers are the same size.

What happens if you say no

Nothing loads. Not a reduced version, not a cookieless ping, not a request that goes out anyway with the cookie switched off. The script is never fetched, so Google is never told you were here.

Your answer is kept in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie, because recording a refusal of cookies in a cookie is absurd. It exists only to stop us asking you again.

What we do not set

No advertising cookies. No cross-site tracking. No device fingerprint. No profile of you is built here, nothing from this site is used to target you anywhere else, and we do not sell or pass on what the analytics collect.

How to change your mind

Clear this site’s data in your browser and the question comes back. Browsers put that under site settings, usually as “cookies and site data”. Declining again is final until you clear it again.

What is collected, and who processes it, is in the privacy policy, and the provider is named in the sub-processor list on the trust page.

Third-party embeds

There are none. No chat widget, no calendar embed, no video player, no social embed, and no font served from a third party. Apart from the analytics tag you agreed to, every asset on this site is served from our own origin.
